Welcome to Narvik
Narvik is the most exciting city in the Arctic landscape. This port city is idyllically located in the Northern Norway, about 300 km to the North from the Polar Circle, on a peninsula between Beisfjord and Rombaksfjord in Nordland. The Arctic landscape that surrounds the city offers a wealth of activities.
This is really extremely exotic place with fascinating fjords and the mystical Midnight sun, a spectacular thunderstorm or the magicalNorthern Lights. The polar night occurs when the night lasts for more than 24 hours. This occurs only inside the polar circles.
In summer, depending on weather, it may be possible even to see the sun during 24 hours making the whole circle in the sky. In Scandinavian countries these days are known as Midnight Sun Holiday.
It will be also interesting and pleasant to visit the Ofoten Museum which shows how Narvik developed from a small fishermen's village into a small city with an important port.
